Warren E. DeLancy, 94, of Chula Vista, CA, formerly of Marseilles passed away Thursday, Sept 29, 2016 at the Chula Vista Veterans Home.
Funeral services will be 11: 00 a.m. Wednesday, Oct, 5, at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles with military honors by the Marseilles Honor Guard. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was born Feb 3, 1922 in Lee Center, IL to Cecil and Grace (Newman) DeLancy.
Warren was a man of God, country, and family. He served in the military as a member of the Coast Guard, a legacy he shared with his two brothers. His brothers, Ray served in the U.S. Navy and Clare "Pete" in the U.S. Army. He was immensely proud of their service during World War II. Warren later graduated Pasadena Nazarene College with a Major in Religion and a Minor in Psychology. He was deeply devoted in his faith, establishing numerous funds and scholarships in his parents' name to help others study for the ministry and continue spreading the good word well after he has gone.
Outside the church, Warren spent most of his time researching his family's history and writing poetry.
Warren is survived by one brother, James (LaDora) DeLancy of Schaumburg, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Clare "Pete"; and sisters, Fern Perona and Betty Anderson.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Marseilles Church of the Nazarene.
