Steven J. Brown, 74, of Marseilles, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Lightways Hospice in Joliet.

Per Steve's wishes, there will be no services. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements and cremation rites.

Steven was born on March 19, 1952, in Ottawa, IL, to Alan S. and Charlene "Peggy" (JaKa) Brown.

He was raised in Grand Rapids Township south of Marseilles. Steve was employed by Caterpillar Inc. for over 30 years, beginning as a burr bench, then working in production for many years, as a tool room machinist, tool designer and finished his career as a production engineer. Steve was very proud of his two patents that he filed during his career. He enjoyed woodworking and helping friends and family create beautiful pieces of furniture, toys and more. Steve loved mowing his grass, his dog Bailey, but most importantly being a great-grandpa to Banks, Beaux, and Bennett.

Steve is survived his two sons, Charles (Jen) Brown and Chad Brown; his Grandchildren, Alexis (Lucas) Weaver, Dylan Brown, Alexis (Dominick) Odo, Briana Brown and Jacob Brown; three great-grandchildren, Banks, Beaux and Bennett; and two brothers, Michael (Sharon) Brown and Timm (Bobbie) Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dave Brown.

Memorials may be directed to Lightways Hospice in Joliet.
