Obituary

Stanley William Konwinski, 90, of Marseilles, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Pleasant View Luther Home.

Visitation with social distancing will be from 10 to 11 a. m. Wednesday, December 30 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with Fr. Alexander Millar officiating. Military honors will be held at the church at the conclusion of the service. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL at a later date. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Stanley was born May 26, 1930, in Minonk, IL, to William A. and Anna M. (Gollon) Konwinski. On January 10, 1970, he married Mary Ann Stenzel of Wenona, IL, who preceded him in death on August 2, 1983.

He served 20 years in the U.S. Navy. Following his service in the Navy, he worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Streator and then at GE Plastics (now Sabic) in Ottawa until his retirement.  Stan was known as "Doc" to his family and friends in his hometown of Minonk. After his retirement, he was a ranger at Prairie Lake Golf Course where he made many long-lasting friendships. He enjoyed bike riding, euchre, golfing, swimming at the YMCA, and spending time with his family. He was always willing to help his family and friends in any way. He was known for having a good sense of humor and he could lighten the mood with his jokes.

Stanley is survived by his three children, Marc (Amy) Konwinski of Ottawa, Melissa (Allan) Hammack of Marseilles, and Kurt (Lizabeth) Konwinski of Mishawaka, IN; five grandchildren, Brea Konwinski, Kaden Konwinski, Gabriel Hammack, Dylan (Kendall) Konwinski, and Holly Konwinski; three great-grandchildren, Brynleigh Konwinski, Beau Konwinski, and Bentley Konwinski; and one sister-in-law, Elaine (James) Krischel of Wenona, IL, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Ann; two sisters, Mary Ann Stokowski and Frances O'Connor; and one brother, John Konwinski.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Pleasant View Luther Home for the excellent care Stanley received.  During the seven years he was a resident at Pleasant View, he made many wonderful friendships. Also, we would like to thank the nurses and staff at Vitas Hospice. They were so supportive the short time Stanley was in their care.

Pallbearers will be Marc Konwinski, Kurt Konwinski, Allan Hammack, Kaden Konwinski, Dylan Konwinski, and Gabriel Hammack.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to Pleasant View Luther Home, Vitas Hospice, or Alzheimer's Association.
