Obituary

Ruth Ann Plane, 78, of Seneca, passed from this life to be with her Lord and Savior on February 25, 2022, and was lifted up by a thousand prayers with her daughters at her side.

Her life will be celebrated on Sunday, March 20 at 9:30 a.m. during the weekly church service at the First Congregational United Church of Christ located at 255 East Bluff Street in Marseilles with Pastor Colleen Lawrence officiating. Lunch and a time of followship will follow services at the church. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Ruth Ann was born on April 16, 1943, in Champaign, IL to Hugo and Pearl (Logan) DeWitt, and was the youngest of five children. In 1961, she married Phillip Ward Plane of Huntley, IL who preceded her death in 2020.

Ruth Ann moved throughout her life with passion and purpose and wore many hats beautifully. She relished most the roles of wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Marseilles and loved to serve the Lord and all His children. With her creativity, generous hospitality, and exemplary planning skills, she loved to coordinate, plan, and serve meals both at church and to her family and friends at home. Ruth Ann was very dignified and kind, and made life look effortless. Her bright smile, gentle wisdom, unconditional love, and kindness to all are an example to us and will be her legacy.

Ruth Ann is survived by her three children, Robin (Paul) Ehrlich of Guilford, CT, Christopher (Guitar) Plane of Saginaw, TX, and Michelle Gayon of Wenona, IL; her grandchildren, Jeffery Plane, Levi Reeder, Zachary (Jodi) Gayon, Anna (Steve) Nestler, Jessica (Kevin) Jacobi, Paul (Anna) Ehrlich, Maxwell Ehrlich, and Joseph Ehrlich; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years and the love of her life, Phil; her parents; three sisters, Lois Anderson, Geraldine Young, and Joyce Camac; one brother, Melvin DeWitt; and a son-in-law, Christopher Gayon.

Ruth Ann was a woman of beauty and grace and will be missed more than anyone will ever know.
