Rita J. Adler, 77, of Marseilles passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Pleasant View Luther Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A. M. Thursday January 26, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marseilles with Reverend Anthony Ego officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles. Visitation will be at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home from 9:00 to 10:45 A. M. on Thursday.
She was born February 26, 1939 in Ottawa to Francis and Margaret (Chanade) Whalen. In 1957 she married Ralph Derrell Adler Jr. of Marseilles who preceded her in death in 2005.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of Home Extension and the American Legion Auxiliary and traveled extensively with her husband when he was State Commander. She was devoted to her family and loved bingo and the library.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Fleming of Marseilles and Lora Walker of Marseilles; two sons, Thomas Adler of Marseilles and Richard (Susan) Adler of Streator; nine grandchildren, Kevin, Jodi, and Ashlee Fleming, Nicholas and Matthew Najdanovich, Abby Walker, Amy (Chris) Arnold, Alex Adler, and Anne (Jake) Casson; and two great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Sophia Arnold.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a daughter-in-law, Renee Adler and a son-in-law, Gary Fleming.
Memorials may be directed to the Marseilles Public Library or Pleasant View Luther Home.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
