Richard Allen Brooks, 73, of Ottawa, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Pleasant View Lutheran Home.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 3, at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home with Reverend John Paul Robbins of the Harding United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m. Burial will be in DeBolt Cemetery in Wedron at a later date.
Richard was born December 22, 1943, in Ottawa, to Oliver and Eleanor (Huntly) Brooks. On March 7, 1964, he married Billie Jean Johnson of Wedron, who preceded him in death in 2007.
He was a member of the Wedron United Methodist Church and the Occidental Masonic Lodge #40 of Ottawa. He was employed by Wedron Silica for 25 years, and drove a truck until his retirement.
Richard is survived by his two daughters, Jody Brooks and Kelly Henry, both of Serena; four grandchildren, Trevor (Lauren) Tipton, Jerrid Henry, Haley (Austin) Davis and Emily Smith; one great-grandchild, Khloe Davis; two sisters, Carol Leslie and Kay (John) Malik both of Wedron; and one brother, Mort (Connie) Brooks of LaSalle.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jean; two daughters, Kimberly Brooks and Barbara Tipton; one sister, JoAnn Brooks; and two brothers, Dennis Brooks and Harry Brooks in infancy.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Pallbearers will be Trevor Tipton, Jerrid and Patrick Henry, Jim Hoxie and Jeff and Steve Johnson.
