Phyllis I. Svoboda, 78, of Marseilles, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023, at Aperion Care.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 29 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. with Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in LaSalle.

She was born on January 2, 1945, in Ottawa, to William Archie and Dorothy (Waldron) Gray. On May 20, 1989, she married Roger Svoboda of Chicago who survives.

Phyllis was employed by Rivershores Nursing Home in Marseilles and Morris Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of the I-80 CB Club for many years. She and Roger enjoyed camping and were members at Whispering Pines and Rolling Oaks for many years. They also enjoyed their Sunday car rides together.

She is survived by her husband, Roger; her children, Lisa A., Curt A., and Darin Close, all of Marseilles; three grandchildren, Curt A. Close Jr., Devon Close, and Haley Nicole Silliman; one brother, Jerry (Donna) Gray; many nieces and nephews, and four step-children.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Richard and Don Gray.
