Phyllis J. Bevington, 86, of Marseilles, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Park Pointe Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Morris.

Due to the current COVID restrictions, funeral services will be private at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marseilles with Rev. Kris Zierke officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Phyllis was born April 26, 1934, in Stavanger, to Edward T. and Lillian R. (Rasmussen) Johnson. On February 14, 1954, she married Donald J. Bevington of Marseilles, who preceded her in death on May 28, 1998.

She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and was the church organist for over 45 years where she played for many weddings and funerals. She graduated from Marseilles High School in the class of 1952. She worked at the Marseilles Public Library for 11 years.

She is survived by her two sons, Larry A. (Terri) Bevington of Loudon, TN and Marty E. (Matt Spivey) Bevington of Elwood, IN; two grandchildren, Nicholas D. (Susanna) Bevington and Emily M. Bevington; two great-grandchildren, Julia and Ezra Bevington; her brother, Gerald R. (Deloris) Johnson of Perrysburg, OH; a sister-in-law, Marge Johnson of Ottawa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Kenneth Johnson; and a special friend, Frank Suareo.
