Pearl Sue (Carver) Rather, 78, of Naplate, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Serenity Estates of Morris.

There will be no services. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements and cremation rites.

Pearl was born on December 7, 1947, in Ottawa, IL, to Robert and Mary (Blanco) Carver. On May 1, 1999, she married James Rather who preceded her in death in 2007.

She was a member of Grace Community Church in Streator. She was an amazing cook, and traveled to and lived in Florida and California as her love for the beach drew her there. Pearl was employed as a caregiver.

Pearl is survived by her six children, Dawn (Mike) McEmery, Tracy Johnson, Thomas (Angela) Meyer, Robert Powell, Brandi (Daren) Close, and Mary Kaye (Jake) Gleim; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents; her children, twins in infancy; and six siblings.
