Obituary

Patricia A. (Mason) Both, 61, of Marseilles, formerly of Thornton, IL, passed away on November 2, 2021 into His arms, peacefully at her home. Actually, she ran into the arms of her Lord, feeling blessed for such a rich life, being given the opportunities to help others, and for knowing the Lord.

Private family services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marseilles with Reverend William Chormann officiating. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Patricia was born on November 11, 1959, in Glen Ridge, NJ, to Don Warren and Valerie Alice (Westfield) Mason. On August 19, 1995, she married David A. Both who survives. David has a strong rich heritage in this area because of his parents, Elmer L. and Barbara Ann Both, and other extended family members, who are no longer with us. With her husband, she took on his family as her own. Her desire to give and help others was able to grow even more.

Patricia graduated from Thornwood High School in South Holland, IL in the class of 1977, and started her volunteering career in mental health social clubs. Patricia graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology in 1981. While at the university she worked with at-risk youth at a shelter and volunteered at the Boulder County Jail doing intake assessments. Back in Illinois, Tricia found a career first at Ingalls Hospital starting with the new adolescent in-patient hospital psychiatry. She attended University of Illinois at Chicago, where she received her Master's degree in 1991 in social work from the Jane Addams School of Social Work. Tricia worked the last and most giving years of her career as the school social worker for Putnam County School District. Tricia worked the majority of her career in mental health and invested all she could give to help others. Over the past 13 years, she built a successful Mary Kay business as a consultant and excelled at highlighting the beauty of others. Tricia had won many awards during her successful career with Mary Kay.

Tricia is survived by her husband, David; their children, Christen Marie (Colt) Snodgrass and Chad Allen (Sarah Bradley) Both; six grandchildren, Hanah Bradley,Jordyn, Mackenzie and Rylee Both, and Emmalee and Gavin Snodgrass. Tricia also leaves behind her mother, Valerie Bohne of Ottawa; two brothers, Scott Allen Mason and Eric Jon (Evie) Mason; and two nephews, Dan Allen and Dillon David Mason.

She was preceded in death by her father, Don Warren Mason, who passed away on September 3, 1998.

She loved spending time crafting, cooking, and playing board and table games. Dave and Tricia enjoyed fishing and entertaining their friends and family. Tackling projects was one of their joys. She also enjoyed arts and crafts with the grandkids. She enjoyed snowmobiling with her husband, David, and friends and family in Wisconsin and Wyoming. She was a member of the local snowmobile clubs in Marseilles, IL and Hayward, WI. Tricia traveled to many different countries and states with family and friends. She was always astounded by God's handiwork, be it in nature, art, or people.
