Monica Marie McHatton, 58, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2026 in Marseilles, Illinois after a long battle with her health. Monica was born in Jacksonville, Illinois on October 9, 1967, to Dennis McHatton and Lois Ann (Gardner) McHatton. Both preceded her in death.
Surviving Monica are her three children, Blake Osborne, Ashlee Osborne (Cole Eiben), and Hunter Osborne; granddaughter, Laityn Rae; sister, Jenifer Moorman (Chad); nephews, Drake Moorman (Joy) and Dawson Moorman (Kyndall); niece, Camille Kenney (Luke); mother by marriage, Judy McHatton; aunts, Carole Vignone and Marsha McHatton; and cousins, Tony Ortiz, Tiffany McDannald, Tarah Richardson, Ryan Wiswell, and Katie Guseman.
There was nothing she was more proud of than her beautiful children and her granddaughter, Laityn, the superstar of her world.
Monica spent most of her career at Horizon House of the Illinois Valley, in Peru, Illinois, helping those with special needs. She loved to travel and took many memory-filled trips with family and friends.
Monica comes from a rich heritage of believers. Her grandfather, Reverend W.A. Gardner, was the founding pastor of Jacksonville Assembly of God. Her father served as the minister of music for many different churches around the country. Monica gave her heart to Jesus as a young girl and has loved and served Him throughout her days. She lived her young life cutting her teeth on church pews, and she carried that heritage with her, serving in music groups, on praise and worship teams, and even teaching young students how to use their talents to spread the message of Jesus.
Monica’s life verse was Jeremiah 29:11: “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” Monica would want each of you to know Jesus intimately and allow Him to give you hope and a future spent in Heaven where we will never again have to say goodbye.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, September 26, at City Church, 129 E. Vandalia Rd, Jacksonville, Illinois. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at City Church. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home, LLC was entrusted with arrangements and cremation rites.
In lieu of flowers, Monica would love nothing more than to bless her granddaughter, Laityn, with a college memorial fund. Contributions can be sent to First State Bank in Ottawa, Illinois, using the following link https://everloved.com/life-of/monica-mchatton
