Obituary

Mike A. Green, 62, of Sheridan, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Services will be private. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

He was born May 5, 1961, in Sandwich, IL to Floyd and Lois (McLaughlin) Green. He graduated from Serena High School in 1979 and lived in Sheridan, IL for 25 years. Mike was a member of the Laborers' International Union #872 in Las Vegas and worked construction until his retirement.

Mike grew up in local Illinois, but had a life in Las Vegas, the Pacific Northwest, and Wisconsin and he enjoyed wherever life took him. He also had a beloved Pit Bull Dozer Fatboy Slim.

He is survived by his children, David and Chris Downey and Jennifer Green; one granddaughter; two grandsons; his father, Floyd Green of Las Vegas; and two brothers, Mark (Stacy) Green of Cincinnati, OH and Marlin (Alice) Green of Ottawa.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Green.

Mike was old school. He filled his life with passion and hobbies that brought him and his family joy. He found solace in the great outdoors, through hunting and fishing, and his green thumb brought life to his gardens. He loved tinkering and building, and refurbishing any item he came across. Music was a constant companion, with a special fondness for bluegrass and rock. Above all, Mike cherished his role as a grandfather, finding immense joy and fulfillment in the love and laughter shared with his grandchildren. He was a mountain man at heart.

As we say farewell, let us remember his kind heart, his utmost respect to humanity and people, and the countless people he's inspired. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will live on forever in the hearts of the many who knew and loved him.
