Obituary

Michael W. Taylor, 54, of Marseilles formerly of Morris, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at his home in Marseilles after a courageous battle with cancer.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a. m. Thursday May 3, at First Presbyterian Church in Morris with Reverend Roy Backus officiating. Memorial visitation will be from 9 – 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Michael was born February 18, 1964 in Joliet, IL to the late Walter Taylor of Coal City and Kathleen M. Taylor (Connelly) of New Lenox. On October 31, 2016, he married his beloved, Cindy Schmitt, of Joliet who survives.

Michael was a graduate of Lincoln Way Central High School and liked spending time in nature, fishing, hiking, and camping. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, joking around, playing video games and listening to rock and roll music. Michael spent 25 years doing carpentry work with his brothers in the Joliet area. Most recently, he worked at Shred-X in Wilmington, IL.

Michael is survived by his loving wife Cindy; two sons, Thom Taylor of Orland Park and Tony Bauc of Utah; two daughters, Jessica Taylor of Bourbonnais and Hope Salazar of Morris; one granddaughter, Natasha Sophia Taylor of Bourbonnais; three brothers, Steven Taylor of California, Phillip (Rebecca) Taylor of Morris and Frank (Jody) Taylor of Wilmington; one aunt, Patricia Norton of Joliet; one uncle, Joel Sinkay of California; one cousin, Tina (Keith) Velemir of Manhattan; and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David W. Taylor; one cousin, Patrick (Ruth) Norton; maternal grandmother "Big G" Dolores Torkelson; and paternal grandmother Mary Taylor.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the OSF Hospice, who provided quality care over the last few weeks. Their presence was a blessing to the family and made it possible for Michael to spend time with friends and family in his home.
