Obituary

It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Meriah Nichole Sly, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend. Born on June 6, 1993, in Ottawa, Illinois, Meriah graced this world for thirty-three unforgettable years leaving us too soon on July 3, 2026.

Meriah was the cherished daughter of Margaret Sly and Rusty (Tammy) Quinn. She leaves behind her precious daughter, Sophia Sly, who was the light of her life. She also leaves behind her siblings including her brother, Jeremiah Stearns, and his wife, her sister-in-law, Alexis Stearns, her brother, Travis Logsdon; and sisters, Lisa Cannoy and Dawn Cannoy. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews including Ariana Cannoy, Sydney (Bailey) Reeder, Jaxon Stock, and Logan Stock as well as countless cousins including Becky Gash. Beyond that, Meriah never met a person who didn’t become a friend, and as a result leaves behind an immeasurable amount of people who were lucky enough to enjoy her sense of humor and endless smile.

A graduate of Ottawa High School, Meriah went on to build a career in warehouse distribution and logistics, though it was her vibrant personality and kind heart that truly defined her. She was a free spirit with a beautiful soul, and a woman whose radiant, contagious smile could light up the room. She will most fondly be remembered for her big laughter, which was infectious to anyone around her, and for giving the best hugs.

Meriah’s passion for art and creativity was only matched by her love for animals, reflecting her deeply caring nature as she often found solace and joy in their company. She was known for her ability to find delight in the simple moments and was always eager to share a laugh or spread kindness wherever she went.

Meriah was preceded in death by her Papa, John Logsdon, as well as her grandparents.

A visitation for Meriah will be held on Friday July 17, 2026, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Seals Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles, Illinois. A short funeral service and burial will follow at Galloway Cemetery in Marseilles, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor her memory may make a donation for the future needs of her daughter Sophia Sly. Those donations can be brought to the service in Sophia’s name or can be deposited in Sophia’s name at Financial Plus Credit Union.

As we remember Meriah, let us hold onto the memories of her warmth, her laughter, and the love she shared so freely. She touched the lives of many, and her spirit will always live on within us. She’s free to be the wildflower she always was now.
