Mary Louise Upton, 83, of Marseilles, passed away January 8, 2020 at her home.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, January 12 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles.  Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday with Reverend Bill Clark of the Marseilles Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park in Springfield, IL.

Mary was born November 18, 1936, in Baylis, IL, to Thomas Potter and Mary Ethel (Stevens) Schmidt. In 1962, she married James Robert Upton, Sr, of Springfield IL.

Mary was employed by Cartan Travel Agency and Wesley Jessen until her retirement.

She is survived by one daughter, Tammy Jo Schmidt of Marseilles; her son, James Robert Upton, Jr.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her cousins, Janice Kay Jackson and Debra Sue Mallwick.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Wilbur Loyd Schmidt.
