Marvin A. Hougas, Jr., 89, of Miller Township, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at his home.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 23 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home with Reverend Philip Peterson of Stavanger Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Section Cemetery at a later date.

He was born November 20, 1928, in Miller Township to Marvin Sr. and Hartha (Jacobson) Hougas. In 1972, he married Deloris Smith of West Peabody, Massachusetts who survives.

Marvin served as a sergeant in the Army in the Korean War, and was a member of the Marseilles American Legion Post #235. He was employed by Caterpillar until his retirement. He was a member of the Early Day Engine Club and a past member of International Harvester. His favorite past times were gardening and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Deloris "Dolly"; three sons, Howard of Ottawa, William (Linda) of West Brooklyn, and James of Ottawa; three sisters, Betty Pitstick and Karen Rock, both of Ottawa, and Donna Hartsorn of St. Germain, WI; and two brothers, Les Hougas of Ottawa and Ken (Judy) Hougas of Naperville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Martin Hougas.
