Obituary

Marian Rae Stevenson, 90, of Ottawa, formerly of Princeton and Marseilles, passed away August 10, 2018 at Heritage Woods in Ottawa.

Services will be private and inurnment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles is handling the arrangements.

Marian was born in Elkhart, IN on November 21, 1927 to Don Ray and Gertha (Robbins) Carothers. She was the beloved wife of Eugene "Steve" Stevenson, whom she married on October 9, 1946.

Marian was a longtime resident of Marseilles, IL until her husband's retirement as LaSalle County Superintendent of Highways in 1983. During her time in Marseilles, she was a 4-H leader, a Cub Scout den mother, a Sunday school teacher at the First Baptist Church of Marseilles, and volunteered at Easter Seals in Ottawa, among other activities. From 1970 to 1976, she owned Now and Then Antique Shop at 442 Main Street in Marseilles.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene "Steve"; her children, Christine Jarvis of Yankton, SD, Norma Jean (Al) Nakaerts of Marseilles, IL and Tomme Stevenson of Alpharetta, GA; five grandchildren, Kristi, Jenni, Eric, Julie and Tyler; four great-grandchildren, Erica, Trevor, Avery and Logan; and a great great-granddaughter, Olivia.
