Margaret L. Todd, 94, of Ottawa, formerly of West Frankfort, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at LaSalle County Nursing Home.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday, May 23 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. with Pastor Brian Hefner of the Marseilles First Church of God officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 24 in Denning Cemetery in West Frankfort, IL. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

She was born on July 14, 1928, in West Frankfort, to Fred and Maggie (McCarver) Mitchell. On February 16, 1957, she married Walter Todd of West Frankfort, who preceded her in death in 2005.

Margaret was a member of the First Church of God in West Frankfort and later in Marseilles. She was employed for several years by West Frankfort Ice Plant and thirty-four years by Old Ben Coal until her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, and she was a member of Lazy Daisy Sewing Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Peggy (Patrick) Schumann of Ottawa; a step-granddaughter, Courtney (Jimmy) Clark of Rockford; her double-cousin, Eljean Creed of Marseilles; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; a son-in-law, David Brewer; three brothers, Vertus, Rolla, and Loren Mitchell; and several siblings in infancy and childhood.
