Major Brian P. Doran, 60, passed away in Lakeland, Florida on October 30th, 2019.

Major Brian P. Doran was buried at Florida National Cemetery with military honors. A Mass will be held in remembrance of Brian at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ottawa, IL at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2019.

Brian was born May 10 th , 1959 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Edward and Theresa (Petrone) Doran. Brian grew up in Dolton, IL and graduated from Marist H.S.  He earned a BS from IIT and his MS in chemical engineering from George Washington University.  While earning his BS, Brian fell in love with Linda (Braschler). On July 25 th , 1981, Brian & Linda were married.

He joined the Air Force in 1983 and was assigned to the Defense Intelligence Agency.  He was deployed to the DMZ, Osan AFB 6 th Tactical Intelligence Group; was the Intelligence and Reconnaissance Directorate at Griffiss AFB; and was stationed in the Philippians during the 1993 catastrophic volcanic eruption. He was the Intelligence Operations Officer USSOCOM, Intelligences Directorate JTF-SWA during Desert Storm, and Intelligence Liaison Officer DIA DOD.  Brian was working in the Pentagon on 9.11.01. Then, he worked as Directorate for Policy Support and later as Deployed Direct Support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Major Doran retired from the military after twenty plus years of dedicated service.  After the military, he contracted with Booz Allen Hamilton in Washington D.C.  He officially retired in 2017 and relocated with his wife to Lakeland, Florida.

Brian enjoyed working on his '88 Mustang, writing, making wine, and stargazing. He was an expert at building Boy Scout pinewood derby cars and he was a pretty good juggler.  He loved dogs and they loved him. Brian was a diehard White Sox fan. He was very proud of his military service.  Brian valued his time at the Pentagon and he loved escorting relatives and friends through DOD Headquarters.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; three sons, Michael (Tiffany Lybarger) of Waldorf, MD, Connor (Danit Kargman) of Winter Park, FL, Brian Jr. of Mountain Home, ID; one daughter, Katie (Rodrigo) Saez of Rapid City, SD; one grandson, Hudson; his siblings, Rose Marie Lyons, Michele (Carl) Nesbitt, Edward (Rosanna) Doran, Mary Lou (Thomas) Riley, and Vanessa (Mike Martinovich) Doran; 100 nieces and nephews; and his godchildren.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Robert Lyons.

He inspired so many people and will be greatly missed. Brian would not want us to mourn his loss, but rather remember the good times.  If you could ask Brian how he is doing, without a doubt he would reply, "Never Better".

The family has requested that any donations be made in honor of Major Brian P. Doran to the Gary Sinise Foundation at https://donate.garysinisefoundation.org/MajBrianPDoran.
