Obituary

Lyle Hubert Wignes, 87, of Miller Township, passed away on Monday June 13, 2022, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 19 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home.  Funeral services will at 10 a.m. Monday at Community of Christ, 2769 N 3350 th Rd in Miller Township with Rev. Tami Perryman officiating. Burial will be in Section Cemetery.

He was born on July 31, 1934, in Miller Township, to Clarence and Bernice (Hoie) Wignes. On August 22, 1959, he married Mary Polen of Dayton who survives.

Lyle was a member of Community of Christ. He was employed by Illinois Bell Telephone until his retirement in 1995, as well as owning and operating a farm in Miller Township. He was a current board member of Section Cemetery and had been involved with the cemetery for the last 73 years. Lyle was an avid sports fan, if he wasn't at a game watching his children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren playing, you would catch him watching a game on TV. One of his most loved past times was collecting farm toys, and he traveled around the Midwest to attend auctions and shows for the last 40 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Jeff (Cheryl) Wignes, Cheri (Scott) Holman, Clarence Wignes, Clifford Wignes, and Cindy (Kevin) Miller; eight grandchildren, Brian (Abby) Holman, Justin (Jessica) Holman, Brad (Kate) Wignes, Jessica (Schuyler) Parks, Jill Wignes, Paige (Shawn) McIntire, Clarissa Wignes, and CJ Wignes; six great-grandchildren, Quinn, Kacie, Camden, Teagan, and Karsyn Holman and Beau Wignes; and his grand dog, Sunshine Miller who always made him smile.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Anna Mae Vicich, Carole Connor, and Evelyn Wignes.

Pallbearers will be Brian and Justin Holman, CJ and Brad Wignes, Shawn McIntire, and Schuyler Parks. Honorary pallbearers will be Philip Nelson and Scott Larsen.

Memorials may be directed to the family to be disbursed to charitable organizations.
