Obituary

Lila Mae (Corrie) Peters, 97, passed away in her sleep on October 7, 2020.

A private, family ceremony will be held on May 22 nd , 2021 with Rev. Kris Zierke officiating. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles is handling local arrangements.

Lila was born November 18, 1922, in Marseilles to James and Lila (Hogue) Corrie.

Lila spent her life giving to others: family, friends and pets. She ensured that no one went without especially when it came to her children, grandchildren, and her pets. She was always thinking of others even when she was sick and would ask about others even when she was hospitalized. It wasn't uncommon for her to ask if the pets were fed when she was visited by family at the hospital. She loved to cook during the holidays and loved working in the garden where she planted many flowers, fruits and vegetables. Lila took pride in her long life and made sure anyone that listened knew she grew old because she "took good care of herself."

She is survived by her daughters, Lila Mary (Peters) Self and Anne (Peters) Santoy; sons, William (Gail) Peters and Wayne (Debbie) Peters; grandchildren, Juan (Lisa) Santoy and Ana Santoy, Dawn Calhoun, LoLynn Smith, William (Christine) Peters Jr., David (Missy) Peters, Chris (Scott) Spencer; and fourteen great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lila (Hogue) Peters; her husband, William Peters; her son, John Joseph Peters; her granddaughter, Lolita Smith; nine brothers, George, Elmer (John), Harold, Jim, Harry, Edward, Frank, William, and Robert Corrie; her sisters, Charlotte Willis, Mary Jane Blake, and Elizabeth Corrie; and her sister-in-law, Dorris Corrie.

In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to help with expenses for a headstone.
