Lewis H. Baird, 77, of Marseilles, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.

A celebration of life will be held in June at Glenwood Campground in Marseilles with Military Honors and a Bell service by the Cicero Fire Department. Cremation rites have been accorded. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles has been entrusted with arrangements.

He was born on January 2, 1948, in Harlan, KY to Lincoln and Nora Baird. In 1969, he married Yvette L. Baird of Germany who preceded him in death in 2021.

Lewis served honorably in the U.S. Army as a drill sergeant in Vietnam. He was a member of the Stickney VFW and a Past Post Commander. He was employed by the Cicero Fire Department as a lieutenant until his retirement. Lewis was a member of the Freemasons, a Kentucky Colonel, active in the Cicero Police Auxiliary, and a longtime Republican precinct captain in Cicero.

He is survived by his daughter, Christina Baird of Marseilles, and one grandson, Aleksandar Beljanski of Marseilles.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvette; one son, Philip; his parents; and three brothers, Accie, Jim and Johnny Baird.
