Larry Scott Kofoid (Sgt. Retired U.S. Army), 64, of Berea, KY, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018 in Berea, KY.

A Celebration of Life will be from 12-5 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at the American Legion Post 235 in Marseilles. A lunch will be served at 1 p.m. at the Legion.

Larry was born December 31, 1953, in LaSalle, IL to Walter and Joan (McLaughlin) Kofoid.

He attended Waltham Grade School and LaSalle-Peru High School before he began his 20-year career in the United States Army. After retiring from active duty, he began a second career in civil service and was currently employed at Blue Grass Army Depot in Richmond, KY.

Larry was a Gulf War Veteran, having served in both Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. He was also an active member of the Lions Club and The UMC in Berea, KY as well as the AMVETS in Ottawa, IL.

He is survived by his mother, Joan McLaughlin Kofoid; two daughters, Andrea Znaniecki and Sarah Kofoid; one son, Larry Scott Kofoid II; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his fiancée, Linda Smith Berry; and his sisters and brothers, Chris (Emil) Crouch, Dennis (Kim) Kofoid, Jean (Miles) Kleckner, Marcia (Bill) Hall, Ronald (Jen) Kofoid, Greg Kofoid, and Ann (Mark) Smith.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Joslyn (Amann) Kofoid; his father, Walter S. Kofoid; and one daughter, Aimee, at birth.
