Kirk Allen Whelchel, 65, of Marseilles, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Morris Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements and cremation rites.

Kirk was born on November 22, 1960, in Joliet, IL, to Beryl Malone "Buck" and Shirley Jean (Yates) Whelchel. In 1990, he married Lori Ann Boiles of Ottawa who preceded him in death in 2022.

He was employed at Akzo Nobel Jacobs Engineering for 34 years as utilities mechanic until his retirement.

Kirk is survived his son, Stephen (Kimberly) Whelchel; his three grandchildren, Asher, Sage, and Briar Whelchel; and his brother, Kevin (Cheryl) Whelchel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lori; and his nephew, Kevin Whelchel Jr.
