Kenneth Howard Edwards, 83, of Marseilles, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, August 24th, 2016, at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, August 27th at First Baptist Church in Marseilles with Reverend David Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles with military honors by the Marseilles Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday at the church. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Ken was born December 18th, 1932 in Forrest, IL, to Howard and Pearl (Miller) Edwards. In 1955, he married Laura Dawn Marco of Marseilles.
He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Marseilles where he served as a deacon, as well as held many other positions over the years. He served in the Army in Korea during the Korean War. He was briefly employed by Nabisco before choosing a lifelong career in farming. He was a volunteer for the Marseilles Area Ambulance Service, worked for a trucking company, and drove for Terry Bentz Buick.
He served others in numerous ways with his many talents. He would do anything for anyone. Serving others brought him great joy!
Ken is survived by his wife, Laura Dawn; three daughters, Cynthia (Barry) Underwood of Seneca, Linda Alvarado of New Lenox, and Ruth (Dennis) Shutty of Los Angeles, CA; nine grandchildren, Sarah Kastler, Elizabeth Jensen, Jon Underwood, Nicholas, Christina, Benjamin, and Marissa Alvarado, and Sage and Seth Shutty; four great-grandchildren, Kamryn and Kellen Kastler, and Alexander and Ellie Jensen; one sister, Shirley Eastham of Farmer City, IL; one brother, Jim (Marsha) Edwards of Jonesboro, AR; and cousins, Tom and Jerry Edwards.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-mother, Mary Edwards.
Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church.
His grandchildren will be pallbearers.
