Judith Ann Poppel, 85, of Ottawa, formerly of Marseilles, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.

Funeral services were private with Rev. Bill Clark officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Seneca. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Judith was born March 8, 1940, in Fairbury, IL, to Ace and Helen (Mowry) Edwards. On March 11, 1983, she married Gordon Poppel who preceded her in death in 2000.

She enjoyed playing Bingo. Judith loved her family and spending time with her friends.

Judith is survived by her three children, Judith Kelley, Carl (Mary) Steenbergen, and Patti (Jeff) Dale; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Elston; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; her parents, Ace and Helen Edwards; a son, Robert Steenbergen; a grandson, James Asa Steenbergen; her siblings, Roger Edwards, Arlene Fuss, Francis Edwards, Sandy Christensen; a son-in-law, Tim Carr; and a daughter-in-law, Tammy Steenbergen.
