Joseph Robert Rulec, 67, of Marseilles, formerly of Joliet, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at his home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 19 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Mike Scheib officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Hillside, IL at a later date.

Joe was born in Berwin, IL on December 13, 1957, to John Edward and Alice (Wernick) Rulec, and was raised in Downers Grove. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Karen Kidd, who preceded him in death in 2021.

He was employed as a welder, limo driver and mechanic. He had many passions, music, car racing, motorcycles and animals, especially big dogs.

He is survived by his niece and nephews, Elizabeth Rulec-Provost, Robert Rulec, Cody Provost and Vern Hubbard; one uncle, Vern Rulec; many cousins and extended family; his loving friends, Cindy and Jack Demkovich; and his loving companion, his dog, Buddy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen; his parents; and his siblings, Jonny, Jimmy, and Alice Rulec.

Memorials may be directed to the Animal Cruelty Society.
