Joseph A. "Joe" Magri, Jr., 78, of Ashtabula, Ohio, formerly of Marseilles, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at his home.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 30, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Reverend Anthony Ego officiating. Military honors will follow the service at the church. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles at a later date. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Joe was born March 28, 1939 in Ottawa, to Joseph Sr. and Henrietta (Morello) Magri. He served in the U.S. Army.

Joe was loved by all who met him. With his calm demeanor, humor, and huge heart, he made everyone feel wonderful in his presence. He battled cancer for 13 years. Joe truly showed his inner strength and determination to live life.

To his nephew, Keith and his friends, he was simply "Uncle Joe". To his sister, Judi, he was much more than a brother; he was her best friend, rock, and confidant. Joe was a great source of strength to all his family and friends, in good times and bad.

Joe is survived by his sister, Judi Johnson of Marseilles; four nephews; and one niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his partner, Justin D'Errico.
