Obituary

Josè Luis Magaña, 80, of Marseilles, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 15 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marseilles with Fr. Bo Schmitt officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Dilley Cemetery in Dilley, TX at a later date.

He was born on January 6, 1943, in Guadalajara Jalisco, Mexico, to Vicente and Consuelo (Perez) Magaña. In 1973, he married Yolanda Guajardo of Chicago who survives.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Cursillos de Cristiandad, and he was an avid fisherman.

Josè is survived by his wife, Yolanda; two Daughters, Sandra (Greg) Serrato and Teresa (Pablo Ramirez) Magaña, both of Chicago; his grandchildren, Adriel (Jenna) Delacruz, Alena Delacruz, and Liliana Serrato; four sisters; and five brothers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Javier Magaña.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Epilepsy Foundation.

Pallbearers will be Juan Villalobos, Chuy Camacho, Eligio Soria, Augustin Nivlas, Josè Nievevs, and Omar Gonzales.
