John J. Richardson

John J. Richardson, 71, of Ottawa, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2026, at his home.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, October 16 at Seals- Campbell Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Shawn Saldano of the Marseilles United Methodist Church officiating followed by military honors at the funeral home. Burial will be in Nichol Cemetery at a later date.

John was born on November 7, 1954, in Rock Island, to John W. and Elizabeth (Less) Richardson. On July 11, 1998, he married Beth Norsen of Marseilles who survives.

John graduated from Ottawa Township High School. He served honorably in the United States Airforce for four years. He was employed by Modern Business Services for many years and then by McGrath Office Equipment in Morris for over 25 years until his retirement. John loved to go fishing in Wisconsin during family trips. He enjoyed reading, learning new things, tinkering and repairing things, and decorating for Christmas. John had a great sense of humor and was always telling jokes.

He is survived by his wife, Beth; his twin children, Patrick (Megan) Ricardson and Elizabeth (Richard Buchanan II) Richardson; three grandchildren, Ellianna, Nora, and Maya Richardson; his sister, Beth Deluna, his brother-in-law, Rob Schmidt; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Norsen; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sue Schmidt.

Memorials may be directed to the Marseilles United Methodist Church or Pet Project in Ottawa.
