John H.
Logsdon
May 29, 1962 — Sep 29, 2025
Marseilles
John H. "Mofo" Logsdon, 63, of Marseilles, IL, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, October 4 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Clark officiating. Burial will be in Galloway Cemetery in Fall River Township. At the request of John and the family, please wear camouflage for the services.
John was born on May 29, 1962, in Ottawa, IL, to John M. and Linda P. (Johnson) Logsdon.
He was employed at Marseilles Brick Factory. He was a member of the United Steel Workers of America, Local #31, and served as Union Steward. Recently, he was employed by Glenwood RV Resort. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and proudly teaching Sophia how to hunt. He cooked "the best dam turtle you'll ever eat". John was a straight shooter, and he competed in international Bull Shooter and many other national dart champion tournaments from Chicago to Vegas.
We are all heartbroken to lose him. His laugh, his stories, and the way he made everyone feel welcome. John had a big personality, a big heart, and a deep love for family and friends. He never met a stranger. He would give you the shirt off his back, lend a hand, talk your ear off, or give you a bear hug that could break your ribs. Together with Margaret, they built a combined family filled with love and laughter.
He is survived by his loving partner of 22 years, Margaret Sly; his children, Travis (Emily) Logsdon, Jeremiah (Alexis Ferracuti) Stearns, Sophia Sly, and Meriah Sly; his granddaughter, Maddie; his loving companion, Buck; his siblings, Allen (Marilyn) Logsdon and Susan L. (Dennis) Hancock; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death his parents and his brother, Daniel J. Logsdon.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Pallbearers will be Travis and Allen Logsdon, Nick Grandadam, Chris Donnelly, Ray Mitchell, Bobby Janke, Mike Shew, Bill Peters, Josh Lenac, and Hugh Williams.
John was honest, tough, and grateful for the ride. "I guarantee ya" you'll never meet another "Mofo" like him!
