JoAnne Nelson, 69, of Marseilles, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023, at her home.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

She was born on April 27, 1954, in Aurora, to Charles and Delores (Cordas) O'Brien. In 1977, she married David Nelson of Leland, who preceded her in death in 2020.

JoAnne enjoyed baking, quilting, and playing bingo. She had many jobs over the years, but the one she was most proud of was being a Nana.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy (Bradley) Figenbaum; her son, Charles (Nathan Mercer) Nelson; her grandsons, Dakotah (Kaylee Simmons) Figenbaum, Levi (Ashley Yeruski) Figenbaum, and Colter (Kaitlyn Walker) Figenbaum; her granddaughter, Kilah Figenbaum; a great-granddaughter who is on the way; a special niece, Stephanie (Brandon) Haish; her brothers, Richard and Toby (Becky) Meyer; her sister, Lori Dennis; her sisters-in-law, Delores Becker and Lori Meyer; many cousins, nieces and nephews;  and her beloved Chihuahua, Gabby.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David; her parents, Charles O'Brien, and Delores and Gordon Meyer; and one brother, Timothy Meyer.

Memorials may be directed to Bishop's Small Dog Rescue in Waterloo, IL.
