Joan Stapleton Trumbo, 71, of Fall River Township, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Morris Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Clark of the Marseilles Nazarene Church officiating. Visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to services on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles.

She was born on August 11, 1947, in Adair County, KY, to Fred Dempsy and Oreda (Johnson) Stapelton. On December 31, 1972, she married Jay S. Trumbo of Fall River Township, who preceded her in death in 1997.

Joan was a lifelong member of the Marseilles Church of the Nazarene. She had been employed at many local nursing homes as a Registered Nurse until her retirement. She was active in the Marseilles Food Pantry. Joan owned and operated Kay Jo Crafting and sold her crafts at many of the local fairs. She enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by two sons, William David (Nicole) Trumbo and Chad Evert (Kay) Trumbo both of Fall River Twp.; seven grandchildren, Edwina Hampton, Jacqueline Hackler, John Murphy, Corrina, Jay, Allen and Emma Trumbo; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, David (Deanna) Stapelton of Mendota.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jay; one grandson, Justin Trumbo, one brother Fred Dempsy Stapelton; and her step-father William Johnson.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
