Janet (Pranger) Woerpel, 92, of Marseilles, passed away October 8, 2019 at Pleasant View in Ottawa.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, October 27 at the First Congregational Church in Marseilles with Pastor Colleen Lawrence officiating. Visitation and a time of fellowship will follow services. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Janet was born May 15, 1927, in Platte, SD to Harm and Nellie (Van Zee) Pranger. She was a graduate of Platte High School, Platte, SD and also attended Southern State Teachers College, Springfield SD. She married Willard Woerpel April 7, 1950 in Rapid City, SD.

She taught rural school in South Dakota.   She also retired from the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension Service in LaSalle County in 1982 and the Coldwell Banker Real Estate, Coraopolis, PA in 1992.

Jan was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Marseilles.  She sang in the choir, served on the Diaconate Board, was head of a Rotary Dinner Committee, and was treasurer of the Women's Auxiliary.  If food was being served, Jan was there.

Janet is survived by her sister, Faye (Clarence) Blunck, Platte, SD, her brothers; John A. Pranger, Platte, SD and Bill (Linda) Pranger, New Lenox, Il.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Willard, her son, Warren in infancy; and her brothers, Harm Pranger Jr. and Victor Pranger.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Marseilles First Congregational Church.
