James E. Rice, 50, of Ottawa, passed away unexpectedly March 4, 2023 at his home.

Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, March 12 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Sunday at funeral home with Pastor Troy Tvrdik officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Ottawa at a later date.

James was born October 18, 1972 in Ottawa, the son of Arlie Boswell and Gayla Rice.  James graduated from Ottawa High School and went on to own his own roofing company. He was a member of Labor's Local 393.  In his free time, he enjoyed playing the guitar, going to concerts and music in general.  He liked to fish, hunt for mushrooms, and snowmobiling.  He loved his family and will be dearly missed.

James is survived by his sons, James Rice and Cody Harney; his daughters, Kayla and Paige Rice; a brother, Arlie Rice; a sister, Michelle (Todd Gordon) Boswell; and his grandchildren, Karrigyn Harney, Jade Harney, Kymberlea Harney, and Layla Lowery.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Gayla Rice and grandmother, Beverly Rice.
