James L. Lowers, 82, of Norway, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m.  Friday, February 18 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles. Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Tami Perryman officiating. Military honors will follow services on Friday.

He was born January 30, 1940, in Ottawa, to Fred and Theresa (Shibrowski) Lowers. In 1972, he married Ruth Richmond of Norway, who preceded him in death in 2021.

James was a member of the Community of Christ Church. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He owned and operated Lowers excavating and construction.

He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Smith of Norway; his six grandchildren, Corey Futrell, Casey Flewellen, Courtney Futrell, Ranger Smith, Ryan Smith, and Levi Futrell; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert (Maria) Lowers of Springville, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; one daughter, Karen Lowers; one son, David Futrell; and four brothers, Frank, Ralph, Fred, and Ed Lowers.
