Obituary

James David Gabehart III, 77, of Marseilles, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 8, at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating. Visitation will be from 4 –7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles.

He was born on June 2, 1941, in Brookfield Township to James David II and Mildred (Thompson) Gabehart. On June 15, 1963, he married Marilyn Mautino of Naplate who survives.

He was employed by AT&T at the Norway tower for forty-two years until his retirement. He golfed every morning and bowled for fifty-five years. He was an avid outdoorsman and gardener. He volunteered as the time keeper for many sports at Seneca High School for over twenty-years. Jim was a regular auction attendee and a passionate antique collector.

James is survived by one daughter, Jamie (Angelo) Grande of Buffalo Grove; one son, James David IV (Julie) of Streator; eight grandchildren, Tara (Jeremy) Noah, Bradley, Shea, and Blake Gabehart, Lindsey and Paige Smith, Traci and Gina Grande and one great-grandchild, Carter James Noah; and one sister, Patricia Totten of Streator.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Robert Day.

Memorials may be directed to the Marseilles Nursing Service.

Pallbearers will be Bradley and Blake Gabehart, Jeremy Noah, Jack Tabor, Joe Bruno, and Lee Bartlett.
