James A. "Jimmy D" DeMoss, Sr., 68, of Marseilles, passed away Thursday July 28, 2016 at his home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p. m. Saturday July 30 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Sunday at the funeral home, with military honors to follow at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles at a later date.
Jimmy was born September 14, 1947 in Ottawa to Clarence and Blanche (Peterson) DeMoss. In 1981, he married Donna Hutchings of Plainfield, who preceded him in death in 2007.
Jimmy graduated from Marseilles High School in 1965. He was drafted into the Army in 1967 and served in the Vietnam War. He worked at Caterpillar until his retirement in 1999. He was a lifelong Cubs fan and enjoyed his collection of cars. He was a member and past commander of the Marseilles VFW Post #5506, and a member and past president of the Marseilles Lions Club
He is survived by two daughters, Michelle (Ryan) Brooke of Ottawa and Krista Meier of Sycamore; three sons, James Jr. (Angel) of Grand Ridge, Austin of Madison, WI, and Matthew of Marseilles; eight grandchildren, Adam DeMoss, Alex and Alyssa Brooke, Olyvia and Kendryck Rand, Elijah Meier, and Griffin and Kellcey DeMoss; three great-grandchildren, Rylin, Caleb, and Rowan; one sister, Judy Moore of Marseilles; one brother, Gale (Eloise) DeMoss of Streator; one sister-in-law, Carol DeMoss of Marseilles; many nieces and nephews; and a special cousin, Greg DeMoss.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, Charles DeMoss; one brother-in-law, Bub Moore; one half-brother, Lester DeMoss; and two half-sisters, Emma Schafer and Florence Cave.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Pallbearers will be Jeff, Todd, Chuck, and Brian DeMoss, and Chris and Eric Farrell.
