James Cappellini, 92, of Marseilles, passed away Monday, September 16, 2024, at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2024, at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marseilles with Fr Ryan Mattingly officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles.

James was born on October 1, 1931, in Marseilles, to Dominic and Veronica (Rebuffoni) Cappellini. In 1968, he married Sue Ann Lachner of Marseilles who preceded him in death in 2015.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and a member of the Holy Name Society. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the Marseilles American Legion Post #235. He was employed as a rural mail carrier for the US Post Office until his retirement.

James is survived by one daughter, Gina (Paul) Winchester of Ottawa, and two grandchildren, Andrew Winchester and Megan (Michael) Winchester Gregory.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Ann, and four brothers, John, Bart, and Bill Mondoni, and Donald Cappellini.
