James A. Blackledge I, 57, of Marseilles, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, September 10 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
James was born August 23, 1960, in Rockford, to Gerald L. and Rose (Stone) Blackledge. On April 22, 2002, earth day, he married Patricia Anderson of Marseilles who survives.
He was a landscaper in the Springfield and Marseilles areas. He enjoyed walking his dogs and visiting with everyone that he met along the way; no one was a stranger. He was a very devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
James is survived by his wife, Patricia; a daughter, Tara (Brendan) Marshall of Jud, North Dakota; one son, James A. Blackledge II of Springfield; four grandchildren, Marley Blackledge, Ian Swinford, and Zaiden and Torrin Marshall; three sisters, Debra (Dave) Welzien of Grafton, WI, Lori Williams of Country Club Hills, and Amy (Shawn) Krell of Chatham; one brother, Thomas Blackledge; and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents.
