Ida M. Olroyd, 89, of Marseilles, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024, at Pavilion of Ottawa.

Private graveside services will be held in Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery in Joliet, IL at a later date.

Ida was born on August 24, 1935, in Selbyville, Delaware, to Benjamin R. and Alice M. (Murray) Melson. On May 24, 1954 she married Walter M. Olroyd, Jr. of Joliet, IL.

She was a member of Ancestry, and an avid Genealogist for 40 years, with three books she had written. She loved gardening, and her family was everything to her. She was a devout Christian.

Ida is survived by her daughter, Riva M. (Emery) Burroughs; two sons, Neal A. and Dean A. Olroyd; six grandchildren, Chrissy Burroughs, Savannah, Sierra, and Nealson Olroyd, and Robyn and Brian DeMars; three great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Pat Melson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 32 years, Walter M. Olroyd Jr.; three brothers, Herbert (Agnes), Robert (Dorothy), and Levin Melson; and her daughter-in-law, Tina Olroyd.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
