George J. Plovanich, 76, of Downers Grove, IL, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Morris Hospital.

Services will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles.

He was born on August 16, 1947, in Chicago, to George and Olga (Pellegrini) Plovanich. On March 18, 1972, he married Maria Bove who survives.

George loved the outdoors, especially fishing. Providing for his family, he worked as a machinist, which he began at 18 years of age until his retirement. He loved to try different restaurants, drinking Chianti, and play the slots!

He is survived by his wife, Maria, of 52 years; his only daughter, Tammy (John) Stelling; and the love of his life, his granddaughter, Maria.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to thank the amazing doctors and nurses at Morris Hospital who showed extreme compassion through a very tough time.
