Obituary

George Eugene Looft, 73, of Ottawa, formerly of Seneca, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 14, 2018 at Pleasant View Luther Home.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday Sept. 21, and one hour prior to services on Saturday at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Linda Weidenbach officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles.

He was born October 31, 1944, in Ottawa, to John William and Irene Mabel (Laatz) Looft and grew up on a farm in Brookfield Township.

After graduating from Seneca High School in 1963, George worked at Friendship House, eventually making Friendship Village his full-time residence. George was an active participant in all programs and sports teams. He was an avid baseball fan and followed the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox regularly. George especially enjoyed telling jokes and making others laugh, while laughing at himself.

He is survived by one sister, Jane Looft Turner of Niagara-on-the-Lake Ontario, Canada; one nephew, Matthew Turner of Toronto; one niece, Stacy Turner of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario; many cousins and extended family.

George's dear soul is now in the hands of God ready to be welcomed home by his mother, Irene Mabel Laatz Looft and by his father, John William Looft, as well as by his big bro, Marvin John Looft, and by our parents' first-born son, Richard Looft.
