Elizabeth Elaine "Lainie" Spencer, 95, of Marseilles, passed away Tuesday October 24, 2017, at Rivershores HealthCare and Rehabilitation Centre.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, October 27, at First Congregational Church in Marseilles with Rev. Colleen Lawrence and Rev. Carl Hammer officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles.
Lainie was born December 21, 1921, in Ottawa, to Arthur and Martha (Bateman) Carlson. On August 15, 1942, she married Allen G. "Bud" Spencer of Marseilles, who survives.
She was a member of First Congregational Church of Marseilles, its Ladies Auxiliary, and sang in the choir for over 60 years. She was also a member of the Peru First Congregational Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a volunteer at Community Hospital of Ottawa.
Lainie is survived by her husband, Bud; a daughter, Sally Spencer of Marseilles; a son, Tom (Tracy) Spencer of Marseilles; seven grandchildren, Christopher Spencer, Kevin Spencer, Morgan Spencer, Elizabeth Churchhill, Erin Vonperbandt, April Clements, and Bonnie Reilly; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Claire Carlson.
Memorials may be given to the music fund at the Marseilles or Peru First Congregational Church.
