Eleanor Jean Gray, 86, of Marseilles, passed away June 26 at Ottawa Pavilion surrounded by her family.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, June 28 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home with Kent Terry officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to services Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles.

Eleanor was born July 31, 1932, in Ottawa, to Orville and Ethel (Boaz) Rafferty. In 1951, she married Marshall "Gene" Gray of Marseilles, who preceded her in death in 2008.

She worked for Ryburn King Hospital in Ottawa. She wrote for the Marseilles Newspaper and also worked at Danielson Catering. Eleanor and her husband owned and operated Gray's Sanitation. Gray's School of Dance was her biggest passion. She diligently sewed every costume and not one child went on stage without her final inspection. Eleanor was a dedicated bridge player and was a member of the Marseilles Bridge Club for over 50 years. She was a wonderful cook and loved the family's musical gatherings.

Eleanor is survived by two daughters, Gina (Bob) Thomas and Amy (Tony) Mathias, both of Marseilles; one son, Denny (Eva) Gray of Ottawa; five grandchildren, Molly Gonzalo, Brian and Patrick Gray, Maggi Thomas, and Melissa Lucas; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Wilma (Leo) Hornbeck of Marseilles; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene and two brothers, Loren and Arlo Rafferty.

Memorials may be directed to Vitas Hospice or Ottawa Pavilion.

Pallbearers will be Denny, Brian, and Patrick Gray, Bob and Maggi Thomas, and Tony Mathias. Honorary pallbearers will be Leo and Scott Hornbeck, Fred Kern, Bob Pierson, Wendell Sharp, and Jerry Peterson.
