David Allen Johnson, Jr., 31, of Ottawa, formerly of Mendota, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Funeral services will be held 10 a. m. Monday, March 6 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home. Burial will be in DePue City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
He was born September 3, 1985 in Mendota, to David and Rhonda (Washburn) Johnson. In 2015, he married Toby Tuntland of Ottawa who survives.
He had been employed by Taco Bell, until "his retirement" as he joked. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his dogs. D. J. was a free spirit who brought joy to everyone around him.
He is survived by his husband, Toby of Ottawa; his parents of Mendota; one step-son, Cody Tuntland; one sister, Jennifer (Josh) Lara of Spring Valley; his grandparents, Ronald and Judy Washburn of LaMoille and Darlene Johnson of Mendota; two nieces, Brianna and Jasmine Lara; his mother-in-law, Sandra Tuntland; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and special friends, Katie Anderson and Kathleen Davis.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jonathan D. Johnson; his father-in-law, Wayne Tuntland; his grandfather, Max Johnson; and two aunts, Diane Wilson and Sandy Hazelwood.
