David S. Brown's Obituary
David S. Brown, 70, of Marseilles, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle.
A time of remembrance will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday Oct. 23, at the Marseilles American Legion with Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Marseilles American Legion.
He was born Sept. 8, 1946 in Ottawa to Alan and Charlene "Peggy" (Jaka) Brown.
Dave served in the Army and was a member of the American Legion Post #235. He was employed by Caterpillar Tractor in Joliet, then for 19 years owned and operated Brown's Machine Shop in Marseilles until his retirement. He loved the outdoors, especially gardening and hunting.
He is survived by his special friend and guardian angel, Eleanor Hess of Marseilles; two daughters, Cheri (Jim) Hovious of Marseilles and Cathleen (Pat) Thurman; three grandchildren, Tyler, April and Erin Hovious; three brothers, Mike (Sharon) of Summerton, SC, Steve of Marseilles, and Timm (Bobbie) of Marseilles; and his former wife, Jerri Brown.
Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home or the Marseilles Nursing Service.
