Claudette Elzer, 76, of Marseilles, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.
Memorial visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 12 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Phil Peterson of Stavanger Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles.
She was born on January 10, 1947, in Ottawa, to Claude Julius and Margaret E. (Wiley) Witte. On June 2, 1968, she married Norman John Elzer I of Marseilles, who preceded her in death in 2020.
Claudette graduated from Ottawa High School and beauty school. She worked for many years as a beautician and then for Twin Oaks Savings Bank until her retirement. She was a member of the Marseilles Church of God and First Christian Church in Morris. She was an active camp counselor in the church camps for many years.
She is survived by her three daughters, Vicki Elzer of Marseilles, Nanci (Mark) Elzer-Blasgen of Peotone, and Kelli (Brandon) Gilbertson of Seneca; one daughter-in-law, Christy Elzer of Madison, AL; four grandchildren, Abigail and Faith Elzer, Hadley Williams, and Bennett Gilbertson; and her siblings, Betty Jo Foutch and William (Carol) Witte, both of Marseilles.
Claudette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman; and her son, Norman John Elzer II.
