Catherine J. Orvis, 87, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, September 21, 2018 at her home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday Sept. 27, 2018 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles. Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles.

She was born June 3, 1931, in Ottawa, to James and Dorothy (Shaw) Engel. In 1947, she married Lawrence W. Orvis Sr., of Ottawa who preceded her in death in 2007.

Catherine was employed at Grace Harden's restaurant in Marseilles for many years. She was a caretaker for many children in addition to her own children over the years. She also enjoyed playing Bingo.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda (Troy) Wise of Ottawa and Cindy (Joe) Wise of Spring Hill, FL; five sons, Lawrence Jr. (Betty) of LasCrucess, NM, Dennis (Aggie) of Seneca, Ronald of LasCruces, NM, Daryl and Leo of Ottawa; many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Sally Engel; her husband, Lawrence; one daughter, Patricia Ickes; three sisters, Lucille, Mary "Dolly", and Marcella; and three brothers, John, Charles and Samuel Engel, and one half-brother, Dick Engel.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
