Carol Sue Nicholson, 78, of Marseilles, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Morris Hospital.
Funeral services will be 11 a. m. Monday Nov. 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marseilles with Rev. William Chorman officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home.
Carol was born August 14, 1938 in Urbana, Ill. to William and Mary (Childers) Sinkes. On August 9, 1956, she married Darrell Nicholson of Marseilles who preceded her in death in 1999.
She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church most of her life and a charter member of Marseilles Lioness Club. She served on the Nursing Service Board and was active in the formation of the Marseilles Little League. Carol was an avid golfer and for many years organized the Darrell Nicholson Golf Tournament to benefit organ and tissue donation recipients and donors. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends. She was a beloved mother and grandmother and a devoted friend and confidant to many with her constant positive attitude.
Carol is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth "Libby" (Michael) Clements of Ottawa; three sons, Michael (Shirley) of Conroe, TX, Steve of Marseilles, and David (Jody) of Humble, TX; six grandchildren, Kim, Josh, Matthew, Cody, Miranda, and Nicholas; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Jay; and one grandson, Chris.
Memorials may be given to the Marseilles Nursing Service or Trinity Lutheran Church in Marseilles.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
